Fieldstone Vineyards of Morgan, Minnesota to Host First Public Exhibit of Kramer
Collection in Over 30 Years.
Richfield, Minnesota, August 28, 2007 -- For the first time in over 30 years, a collection
of Arnold Kramer original paintings will be on public display. The exhibit, which will be hosted
by Fieldstone Vineyards near Morgan, Minnesota, will include permanent collections from
Southwest Minnesota State University, Marshall, Minnesota, and the Wabasso Community
Museum.
Arnold Kramer was nicknamed Minnesota’s Grandpa Moses by the University of Minnesota
during the 1960’s. Kramer was a self-taught artist whose work was reminiscent of paintings done by the popular New England artist, Grandma Moses.
Kramer was a prolific artist, completing an estimated 400 paintings. He participated in
numerous competitions and one-man shows, resulting in scrapbooks full of ribbons. He was
featured in the Saint Paul Pioneer Press and Star Tribune as well the Farmer Magazine. The value of Kramer’s work is a topic of debate, as it has never been traded on the open market.
After his death in 1976, his work disappeared from public view, but has enjoyed renewed
interest upon the creation of a website in his honor, www.arnoldkramer.com, which includes
images of over 70 of his paintings, and his profile on Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia.
Hours for the exhibit are Saturday, September 29th from 11 A.M. to 6 P.M. with live music from New Prairie Music capping the evening off from 7 P.M. to 9 P.M and Sunday, September 30th, from Noon to 5 P.M.
